Content Management Framework for Zope, originally intended to be a content management system but since overshadowed by Plone. CMF now serves as the backend that supports Plone. CMF began life as the “Portal Toolkit” (PTK) back when the dotcom boom was in full swing and everyone wanted to run a “portal”. That legacy still lives in the numerous portal_* items in a typical Plone/CMF site.
