Being misrepresented

A certain Mr Sunil Shibad is currently going around claiming that I mocked the Mumbai train blasts. Sunil is justifiably upset about recent events related to Internet censorship, but chose to hold responsible Mr N R Narayana Murthy of Infosys, then went on to lampoon, progressively, Mr Murthy, NASSCOM, the IT industry, and all “cyber coolies”. He topped off by stating that anyone who was not in Mumbai during the train blasts shouldn’t be speaking about the blog ban — which was the topic until he diverted from it. Don’t believe me? Read his own words.

When I (sarcastically) pointed out that he was abusing the memory of a terrible event for his own selfish ends, he turned it around to claim I was mocking the blasts. Who’s being more offensive? Judge for yourself.

Update: It appears Mr Sunil Shibad is of a far deeper personality than I had accounted for. The publications he set on my case were all fake.

Judge for yourself

Sunil at 2006-07-23 15:44
Yes. Judge for yourself.

Sunil

Well

Arya at 2006-07-23 20:39
Do you realize you are making yourself look very silly everywhere? I suggest you read up on sarcasm one of these days.

What you are quite effectively doing is going around telling the world you didn't give a damn about the blasts.

Mr.Jonnalagadda,
Mumbaikars everywhere shudder at your callousness and lack of tact. When blast victims are still dying in hospitals do you believe public forums should be used to flog your own brand of national apathy? Personally, I find it disgusting and completely off topic from the thread in which you posted it.

I have judged for myself.

AM.

Hmm

Anil, you are an idiot.

How very original and mature!

Resorting to namae calling and abuse shows how pathetic you are.

Mr. Kiran,
The Veera Desai Newsline would like to use your quotation in a segment on the national reaction. I request you to get in touch with me at 9819743687 for an interview on your statement.

Mr Dinesh, please regard the updated version of this post as my statement on this matter.

the best you can do?

Newsline? Is that the best you can do? What happened to all the cops and televison media you were going to call? Put my name on your list too.

Sunday today

Kiran Jonnalagadda at 2006-07-23 19:07
Jacob, Sunday is a holiday in this part of the world. I expect that most people he reached out to will start acting on it tomorrow.

Stay cool

Jacob at 2006-07-23 21:14
Have a good time in Chennai and Kerala. Don't worry about this jerk, there is nothing he can do. Anyone who reads the thread will understand your context. We should start ignoring him and this issue from now.

Apology accepted

Sunil at 2006-07-23 21:31
Kiran Mumbai accepts your apology, they will read surely your statement in context and we are a forgiving lot but please don't make the same mistake twice.

Few have the grace to admit when they are wrong and if I was out of line in anyway I do apologize but kindly do not attack my city again.

Best wishes,

Sunil

Kiran Jonnalagadda at 2006-07-23 21:46
Sunil,

May I know on what basis you speak on behalf of Mumbai? Are you an elected official? It is precisely this tendency that has irked many. I did not rally any of them. They came on their own accord.

I hope you are willing to discuss this between you and me as individual persons, not hiding behind masks for greater entities that did not choose us to represent them.

neha at 2006-07-23 22:08
Sunil - Having lived in Mumbai for quite a while. Having done my bit for the city. (Used to work with street kids and victims of domestic violence - who probably escaped your eye) - I still don't think I am egoistic enough to speak on behalf of the city.

Living and being in a city doesn't give you the right to misrepresent the city.

Let me repost what I posted as a comment on your <b>(Sunil's) blog</b> - "Talk about quoting out of context.

You were the one who mocked the Mumbai blasts by insisting nobody else understood it because they weren't there. You mocked the pain of millions of people who have family and friends in Mumbai by urging that anyone not physically present didn't comprehend the gravity of the situation.

You - were hoping gain personal mileage out of a terrorist attack. Let's not forget that Kiran said what he said because he wanted to remind you that people had died and you shouldn't capitalize on their death.

It's pathetic that you want to emerge as a more virtuous person on account of your fellow citizens dying. You wanted to steer the conversation away. Kiran's mail was a reminder to all of us to remain humble in respect for those who died in Mumbai - and not pretend like we know everything.

Why we don't need the ISI

Sunil at 2006-07-23 21:01
After 9/11, I never heard or read anywhere about someone from say Seattle making fun of a New Yorker with reference to the horrible terror attacks. Even sarcastically.

We don't need the ISI when we have guys like Kiran, Jacob
and other fifth columinists within.

Oh yes Jacob it was all fine to label me a Shiva Saiik, Hindutva and all on the newsgroup and everyone stood by and watched.

Obviously, honour, decency, values, emapthy and compassion is something you and your ilk clearly lack.

Maybe a trip to the Siachen Glacier would straighten you out.

My blog is acessible now and you can post what you like there for I wnat the truth out.

saiik?

Jacob at 2006-07-23 21:20
Firsty, the only thing I labelled you was 'jerk'and I still stand by that. I'm not going to lower the dignity of my frends and family who fought for the nation by listing them out there. If you ever compare me to the ISI, you are going to pay a very dear price for it.

Jacob is not ISI

Sunil at 2006-07-24 03:54
Jacob is not ISI.
I repeat Jacob is not ISI.
In fact with his brand of armchair intelligentisa, we don't even need the ISI.
They are doing a good job of it themselves.

"A loser doesn't know what he'll do if he loses, but talks about what he'll do if he wins, and a winner doesn't talk about what he'll do if he wins, but knows what he'll do if he loses. "

PS: I am very scared of your threats Jacob. Maybe you will resort to something as cowardly as hacking? Sending hate mail? Come out in the open you ego maniac.

hacking?

I'm out in the open jerk. You are the one who is hiding. All my details are at www.mutiny.in

hilarious

Patrix at 2006-07-23 23:11
My god, you are hilarious, Sunil! Siachen Glacier...sorry, I don't live next door so probably I will not understand that either. By <b>your</b> logic, you don't live in New York or Seattle so I'm sorry, those examples will not work. Kiran's statements <b>in context</b> were quite appropriate; I, as a Mumbaikar, am not offended.

The only truth that remains to be outed is that you are a jerk and I guess that is being proven every time you write something.

neha at 2006-07-23 19:59
Jace, clearly Sunil had an agenda when he went about asserting that you had insulted anyone. In fact - if anything it was Sunil who went about insulting anybody else - be it a journalist, NRI or soldiers in the Kargil war.

Sunil mocked the Mumbai blasts by insisting that only people outside Mumbai did not have any idea about the tragedy. I would say that you were the one who highlighted that he was mocking the victims of the blast - and you were merely pointing out that he was asking for attention by insulting everyone else.

Don't bother about him.

And please Sunil - if you're reading this - feel free to forward my name as well. People deserve to know about people like you holding honest and sincere people like Kiran to ransom.

Cuckoo at 2006-07-23 20:31
Sunil and Anil,

Are you two brothers?? I must say both of you suck.

no apologies required

Patrix at 2006-07-23 20:36
Kiran, your efforts during the blog ban are and will be always appreciated. Perhaps you, like other fellow bloggers probably did more for the city of Mumbai than the dolts like Sunil could ever dream of. In the context of the situation, your statement was a natural reaction especially after Sunil taunted Neha using the blasts as a tool for personal propoganda. Such idiots should be dealt with firmly. He never got back to my response on the thread. Guess chickened out.

---emailed off list cos i found no point in having another off-topic extra email land up in 400+ folks inboxes----

Hi Sunil,

I'm replying you off list because I don't see any point in bothering the whole list about this, nor do I think this is something to do with the ban on blogs or the like.

"As for your identity, you suffer a serious identity crisis."

Maybe you need to get a grip on yourself Sunil without trying to step on & paint someone the wrong way on a list of over 400 people.. I don't know what you were trying to gain by doing so.... I don't really care either... except that I'd appreciate you asking yourself the simple question of: "what exactly are we achieving by attacking someone else on a group list who's focus is on a blog ban and ways to have it lifted, etc.?"

I'd say none.

BTW... feel free to forward the contents of my email and my name to as many lists you can find online, as well as to members of the main stream media, bloggers, law enforcement authorities, etc. I'd be delighted to let them know the extent of recent personal attacks you've gone as far as causing to folks on the list.

cheers,
Angelo.

Hi Jace,
Don't you see that by answering to Sunil we're all just feeding his ego here. The internet is extremely good at giving a voice to fools and trolls. I suggest that all of us just ignore this petty goon so that he doesn't have a soap box to stand on. Just ignore him, drop the issue. We all have far more important issues to take up like the blog-ban and this is just distracting energies from the same. The sooner we ignore this junk, the sooner he'll shut up.

Hi Aanad,

At last a sensible soul.

Please what they have posted on my blog.
http://newnimproved.blogspot.com/2006/07/bangalore-techie-mocks-mumbai-blasts.html

They just can't let go.

Another thing.

Neha Vish, Patrix, Dilip D'Souza, Saurabh, Gaurav, Madhu Menon and Angelo contribute to each other's blogs.

Coincidentally all of them are attacking me on Bloggers Collective.

Fascinating!

I do admire their unity.

What amzes me that they defend an utterly moronic and inhuman statement.

They are losers as defined by Dr Eric Berne.

A loser doesn't know what he'll do if he loses, but talks about what he'll do if he wins, and a winner doesn't talk about what he'll do if he wins, but knows what he'll do if he loses.

On second thought let the world see this as I had demanded that NASSCOM and IT czars take a stand as we wrere coming acroos as fools on the world arena.

Did these guyd care?

No. They attacked me.

They are classic losers.

Sunil at 2006-07-24 03:58
Well said Sashidharan.
Alas these guys are just incestous bloggers who couldn't care two bits about the rest of humanity as long as they got their 15 minutes of fame on the Web.
I feel sorry for them now.

Kingsley at 2006-07-24 04:44
OK, Sunil, you're the troll, I think we are all clear on that. Almost every other commenter on this list is actually know in the Indian blogosphere, so none of us need our 15 minutes of Internet stardom.

Sunil, you were also the one who started the insulting, first of tech companies, then their CEOs, then NRIs, then "code coolies" (wow, did you just make that up? very cool) and finally, by claiming their victimhood for yourself, all of the Mumbai blast victims.

Kiran insulted you, and you deserved it. He was unkind, but so were you. This does not insult the victims, because you are NOT one of them, no matter how close you live to the hospital. What you are doing is called “stalking” and I wonder why Kiran-Bangalore-Techie-And-Proud-Of-It-Jonnalagadda doesn’t just sue your sorry ass.

angelo at 2006-07-24 16:29
Sunil,

you have my numbers, my name, obviously you know how to get in touch with me. You've referenced me earlier in relation to some sort of "underworld" character, which however hilarious it may seem to you, I do take such references/accusations serious. In the event you feel you need to have my details cross-checked, please feel free to get in touch with the Indian Ambassador here, Mr. Balkrishna Shetty on 0097317715241/ indemb@batelco.com.bh

I've nothing to hide here, so why don't you stop hiding online and either email me on how I may reach you via phone or cell, or give me a call, I'm willing to take this offline, off the net and settle it. You want an explanation on a certain "connection", and I'm sure a fair one can be provided. And if I don't recieve your contact info soon, please expect a call from me.

Cheers.

Google Bombing

Rustom Daroowalla at 2006-07-24 17:58
If even a tiny number of bloggers, offended with a certain Mr Xerxes Rustomji write posts that hyperlink the word Xerxes Rustomji to "Xerxes Rustomji is a stupid, self-promoting and thoughtless freak", potential future employers of Mr Xerxes Rustomji, especially if they are in a media-related business, will find upon looking up Xerxes Rustomji on Google, will find very uncharitable results. They may be suspicious before offering jobs, promotions for fear that their clients think Xerxes's integrity is questionable.

It's bad enough if bloggers write about the facts of this incident. But not all bloggers stick to facts, some may already be so pissed with Xerxes Rustomji that they may write some very unkind things about him. That too will be found by those employers.

All this assumes that Xerxes Rustomji is Xerxes Rustomji's real name of course. But if you have as uncommon a name as Xerxes Rustomji, well, bad for you.

Xerxes may think he's a smartass by creating false journalists to scare a real blogger. But what if real bloggers decide to take umbrage? What then, Xerxes, what then?

Disclaimer: I have nothing intellectually valuable to contribute to this discussion and am commenting simply to voice my opinion that Sunil is an utter ass, so please dont respond asking what my 'point' is.

Sunil - You are a miserable petty little man, with nothing better to do with your time than divert the attention of people in a discussion where you have nothing interesting to say to a topic you dont know any more about but feel you can bullshit your way through with irrational nationalistic (quite possibly jealous) spite. Kiran's comments when taken in context are perfectly valid, and I as a mumbaikar am more offended by you trying to make this into an NRI-hating indentity issue more than anything else.

Get a life, and for everybody else's sake, dont do it on the blogosphere.

We Care

Dina Mehta at 2006-07-24 21:28
Sunil .. this group of bloggers that you so easily malign, are in fact those that come to help out everytime there is a crisis. It is with their hard work and support that we've been able to provide real help during the Tsunamis, Katrina and Mumbai Floods and Blasts - we weren't in Aceh or New Orleans when we helped there ... and not all of us are in Mumbai but we reached out and did what we could.

What or who gives you the right to decide who is a Mumbaikar and who is not??? Just because you live here? What have you done for the city or achieved that makes you a proud Mumbaikar?

I've lived in Mumbai all my life and many of the others are spread around the world, but one thing that ties us together is WE CARE. And we ACT. Unlike you, who hides behind your window, and behind such silly attacks. If you really do want to help, as Neha and Kiran and Angelo and Dilip and Patrix and many many others have done and will continue to do, stop whining and get constructive.

Kiran ... as a Mumbaikar and as someone who cares regardless of the place i physically live in, I am with you!

Madhu Menon at 2006-07-24 21:31
Jace, I suggest you follow age-old wisdom on the 'Net: Do not feed the trolls, even the mentally unbalanced ones. The entire thread is publically archived for sensible people to figure out what happened.

Stop being a mutual admiration society

Sunil at 2006-07-25 03:46
NNone of said bloggers are known outside their own incestuous circle (though they can claim they are known by thousands even millions.)
I had closed the issue after Kiran’s apology. (Check my blog if you like)
But you all keep at it did you not?
You al could just not let go.
You needed a scapegoat. No matter how illogical your argument (sarcasm, etc.)
Stop being a mutual admiration society. It is distasteful.
Just for the record three retired Army officers from Dehradun (where IMA is) called Kiran and he did not take their calls.
More journalists did and he refused to answer their calls and they will call again.
I have no idea about said publications.
I sent the blog mail to all. Many Mumbaikars are pissed off.
Have you ever though people are too busy working to even care about your miserable lives?
As for trouble in Mumbai, you all are a laughable lot.
Many asked me what a blog is.
How odd that you all claim to help people in Mumbai when I am sure 90% do not have Internet access.
I can only feel sorry for you all.
Many of my Mumbai friends said that by drawing attention to your incestuous self-glorifying (and abusive) group, I was giving you all the much needed attention that you all crave for.
Have fun in the meantime.
Let me not stop you.
Because without me or some other whipping boy you would have no life at all.

Kiran Jonnalagadda at 2006-07-25 11:50
Sunil, you are lying, because not a single person called me. Two people messaged and one left a comment here, and all three claimed to represent fake publications. Of the two who messaged, only one answered my call.

If you persist in spreading misinformation like this, I will be compelled to sue you for harassment and defamation.

As I am sure you well know, you and some other Bangalore techies have a substantial vested interest in not having India seen as a politically unstable place; of course you are going to minimize the bombings. This is
nothing but political hardball.
Makes sense, you Gaddha?
Go on braying with your fellow bloggers.

PS: I notice after all this, there are no other posts on your blog.
Why? Is there no life after bashing me?

Jacob at 2006-08-07 16:41
You are not even worth bashing. Go back to your little hole and stay there.

Worth bashing?

Sunil at 2006-08-09 01:01
If I am not worth bashing why are you all frothing at the mouth and defending your pal Kiran? Is he a babe in the woods? Can he not defend himself?
I see I am worth about 50 posts and many others posts on blogs.
I came back only because I saw many links to my blog at Technorati
Get on with your life, stop writing about me and I will do the same.
I wish you the best.
